The Doctor, by Sir Luke Fildes (1891)

Our skin is the largest and most visible organ of our body. We need to therefore take care of it because this is what people see first. This vital organ also reflects our body's health. If we are sick or stressed, our skin turns to a pallor that immediately tells others that we are not in a state of perfect wellness. Unfortunately, many people also neglect to take care of their skin.

Most of the time, the problems may be small enough to be negligible to the naked eye. Then, it starts getting bigger, and before we know it, it has already affected the way we think about ourselves. Many people begin to have issues with their skin when they age. The wrinkles, lines, and crow’s feet may be too unbearable to look at. They think themselves as unattractive until their insecurities get in the way of almost everything.

Thankfully, there exist doctors who are certified specialists in skin care: they go by the title of dermatologist. They deal with a variety of skin problems and wrinkles are just a very little part of what they do. They specialize in the study of everything that concerns the skin. They are even skilled enough to perform surgeries that are able to permanently fix big problems.

While it's not very practical to have regular checkups, you should be in contact with one in case you need help. You also must know that when in searching for a dermatologist that is perfect for you, you need to be comfortable with your choice. After all, this is the person whose hands you’re trusting to help you look good. You’ve already seen reports of people going to someone they barely trust and come out of the experience more scarred than ever. You don’t want to be part of this statistic.

So if you are fed up with how your skin has evolved over time, here are a few things to consider when looking for a good dermatologist:

1.    Find out what you need help with. Most dermatologists have a specific area of expertise within skin care. You might need a specialist, but make sure that you get one with a credible background and with the most experience. If you have questions and aren't sure if you need a specialist or not, get recommendations from people you know. If your friends can’t help, then a better solution would be to ask your physician for a recommendation. After all, your doctor should know your medical history and can therefore best assess your needs.

2.    Make sure that the dermatologist you’ve chosen has a good track record. You can research on what they’ve done on the internet. You can even ask around to know the reputation of your doctor. It's essential to know who you're dealing with. Ask for testimonials from previous patients to feel better at whatever choice you’ve made.
If for any reason you feel uncomfortable, it's wise to seek out a second opinion. When it comes to your health and outside appearance, there is no room to cut corners. Follow your instincts at all times, because they have proven to be right for many people.

A great dermatologist can give you great tips. The valuable information you’ll get may be something that changes your life for the better.

Avoiding Things That Sabotage Your Skin

You try to take care of your skin, but somehow you still see yourself aging. You wake up every morning with  less-than-stellar skin and somehow still showing signs of aging. There may be some things you are doing unconsciously that come between you and a great looking reflection in the mirror.

We live in a world that is highly dependent on technology. Your constant cell phone chats may actually do more bad than good for your skin. You may have thought that the only drawback to your wireless talks with friends was the burgeoning bill. Studies have actually revealed that having fewer face-to-face conversations with pals and loved ones, combined with the pressure  to cope with the increasingly fast pace of life, can cause you a lot more stress than normal. This is actually more responsible for many physical annoyances, like excess oil production, reduced circulation, and water loss in your skin cell walls, all of which can lead to dullness and dehydration. Ward off stress by carving out time each week to physically bond with your circle of friends. Also, in addition to a well thought-out skin routine, you need to eat lots of fruits, vegetables, and fish. These foods possess anti-inflammatory properties, which help skin complexion under control, even when your life is all out of synch.

You may actually find yourself sitting near a window often. If you think you’re safe from the sun under the confines of a roof, you’re dead wrong. Exposure to harmful UV rays can happen indoors too. Indoor lights actually mimic the undue effects of prolonged exposure under the sun, and harsh rays also penetrate through the thick glass. Even your car tint may not be able to completely filter light. To cope with the environment, wear sunscreen everyday even when it’s cloudy outside. And if possible, arrange your desk so you aren’t directly hit by sunlight. If that’s not possible, pull down the window shades.

When you exfoliate and scrub your face clean, know how to limit this type of routine. Using strong peels and strong exfoliators more than twice a week can irritate your skin and accelerate the signs of aging. It sounds a little too severe but repeated inflammation from harsh products can cause a chain reaction that breaks down the skin’s dermis. You age more quickly because this is where the elastin and collagen fibers are found. If your skin is red and inflamed, stop scrubbing and just use a mild cleanser. Add a moisturizer with SPF after because your skin is more susceptible to sun damage. Acne-prone skin can be exfoliated daily as long as it states in the formula that it’s meant for everyday use. Normal complexions can be buffed two or three times a week with a mild micro-bead version.

It is sometimes tempting to do your facials daily, and as much as you feel clean afterwards, you have to stop yourself. Or else, you will age more quickly. Try to avoid things that are harmful. Don’t give in to your desires. In the end, you won’t regret the small sacrifices that you made.

Never Going Out of Style

As they say, death and taxes are the two most certain things in life. Aside from that, the other things we have can come and go, and even change from time to time. Moreover, one thing is for sure: youth never goes out of style. Now, more than ever, there is a pressure to prolong it as much as possible. As you age, your body will go through changes of its own. And nowhere is this change more apparent than on your skin itself. Time, pollution, and bad habits are only some of the factors that damage your skin’s elasticity. You’ll notice that your skin no longer feels as supple as it once was. In fact, you’ll see more and more traces of fine lines and wrinkles. To stave off any more signs from appearing, you need a more intensive solution. If you’re not too keen on surgical procedures, here are a few things that can help you stay, look, and feel young:

1.    For your hair: As hair ages, it loses its lustre. Even worse is that its natural defences get weaker. Look for a conditioner that helps balance and replenish the hair and scalp to its former glory. As some women age, they may notice that their hair is thinning as well. If this is your problem, buy a shampoo that revitalizes scalp and stimulates the metabolism of your cells.
head 2 Never Going Out of Style2.    On your face: Look for anti-aging products that aren’t greasy because they can be uncomfortable on your skin. Just put a few drops on your face each day to keep wrinkles at bay. Look for ones with collagen on their list of ingredients so that you will be able to always look healthy. For serums, look for ones that regenerate your skin on a cellular level. If you’re skin is well-hydrated, you’ll notice your youthful glow within a few weeks’ time. For better results, don’t leave out your neck when you apply these products.
3.    For your teeth: Aging naturally makes your teeth look more yellow that usual. It could even get worse if you’ve been a heavy smoker for several years now. Whiten your enamels the natural way by brushing with baking soda mixed with a few drops of hydrogen peroxide. Do this no more than a few times each week and use toothpaste for the rest of the time.
4.    For your body: Get rid of your dead skin cells by scrubbing at least once a week. Apply lotion after every bath to lock in moisture. Look for lotions that have vitamin C because this known to continually repair the damaged cells on your skin.

With whatever product you choose, try to get those that come with sunscreen. The UV rays are now deadlier than ever. If you want any hope to slow down time, you need to be responsible with the way you expose yourself to the sun. So when you look in the mirror and ask who’s the fairest of them all, don’t be surprised if you actually hear your name. It’s time to take care of what you have and show just how much you appreciate yourself by taking care of what you were born with.

image thumb1 Anti Aging Treatment: All About Antioxidants For Your Skin Care If you are looking for a safe, effortless way to add to your anti-aging treatment beauty regimen, taking antioxidants is perfect for you. This substance has been validated scientifically ever since it has been put to extensive study fifty years ago. A French study revealed that women taking different antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, betacarotene, among others, were found to develop less wrinkles and reduce existing ones than those women who don't. This happens because according to study, antioxidants are the perfect agent to prevent the breakdown of the skin's most important structural proteins, collagens and elastins.

You can find high contents of antioxidants in foods like the following:

• Raisins
• Blueberries
• Cranberries
• Raspberries
• Plums
• Spinach
• Broccoli
• Brussel sprouts

The Vitamin C

The vitamin C is an antioxidant used by many women not only for immunity to sickness but as a significant beauty supplement. It helps in repairing damaged skin by creating collagen. It is important to note that those with lower vitamin C levels are often more susceptible to skin damage. It is recommended that a minimum of 500 mg up to 2000 mg a day is consumed.

The Vitamin A

Deficiency can result to reduced effectiveness of your skin care treatments. It can lead to different skin problems such as localized breakouts, rough or dry skin, fragile skin, poor skin texture, wrinkles, and even splitting nails. That is why it is important that your body is using as much vitamin A as needed for renewal and normal growth of your skin cells. The vitamin A serves as antioxidant and keeps your skin supple and helps prevent damage. It also acts as nourishment to the fat layers found underneath your skin.

The ALA, or Alpha Lipoic Acid

The ALA, or alphalipoic acid, is a great antioxidant supplement you can take along with other antioxidants such as the vitamins C, E, plus the coenzyme Q10. The ALA is an important component of your daily supplements as it not only serves as antioxidants in itself but forces other taken antioxidants to be recycled, thus better absorption of these substances. Other benefits of taking ALA are associated with heart disease and obesity. It is known to improve insulin resistance as well as act as anti-inflammatory agent.

There are more benefits. ALA helps detoxify metals accumulated by the body as well as boosts the rate of removal of the glucose from your bloodstream. And the main reason why it is an excellent anti-aging treatment for you, it helps stop the occurrence where the fibers are interlinked with each other, a known cause to lead aging and wrinkle formation.

While the body is capable of producing ALA, it is in very small amounts that only the cells are able to use it for the cellular energy production. The ALA serves the benefits as antioxidants only if being supplied into the body with more amount than those produced by the body for the cells. Unfortunately, production of ALA also declines just like the collagen and the elastin.

An ALA supplement is therefore important unless you are pregnant or undergoing breast feeding. It is suggested that a minimum of 50 up to 100mg of the antioxidant is enough to meet the dosage needs. Unlike the other antioxidants, the ALA is both water and fat soluble, which means it can be absorbed by all your body parts.

The Best Anti Aging Skin Care For Woman Over 40

2 The Best Anti Aging Skin Care For Woman Over 40http://thesecretsofbeautifulskin.com/

What should you look for in skin care for woman? What's the most effective? What's the safest? These are things that you need to know, before you buy anything.

For Your Health

The skin's health is dependent on adequate nutrition and fluid intake. As time goes by, skin care for woman and man, becomes more difficult, because it is harder for the outermost layers to get the nourishment and fluids that they need.

With the right creams, you can apply the necessary nourishment and moisture directly. But, if you choose the wrong ones, you'll clog the pores. Toxins will begin to build up. Your face will start to look duller and eventually, you'll start to see sagging and fine lines.

It is important to avoid products that contain petrolatum, mineral oil and paraffin. Have you ever noticed that when you use chap-stick on chapped lips, they start to heal? But, if you use it regularly, they start to feel dry all of the time. So, you reapply it time and time again, thinking that it will eventually have that healing effect.

The truth is this. It won't. Chap-stick is primarily paraffin wax, a mineral oil derivative. It's the best example that I know of to explain to people that mineral oil derivatives strip the natural oils that are present in our lips and skin. Thus, they are counter productive and should not be included in skin care for woman or man.

To Improve Your Appearance

The safest and most effective solutions are those that are naturally occurring. Mineral oils are byproducts of the system that converts crude oil to gasoline. They are prone to contamination with cancer-causing chemicals. But, those are not the only carcinogens commonly found in skincare products.

Many of the sun screen compounds that you are currently relying on to help prevent skin cancer have now been shown to penetrate the skin, increase free radical activity and damage DNA, thereby increasing the likelihood that cancer cells will begin to grow in previously healthy cells.

Parabens, the most commonly used preservatives today, also penetrate the skin's layers and have been found in tumors. Other artificial preservatives are just as dangerous. I would suggest that you avoid artificial preservatives, if you want to protect and improve your appearance.

Antioxidants are some of the most important nutrients when it comes to [http://thesecretsofbeautifulskin.com]Skin Care For Woman and caring for the body's long-term health. Antioxidants inhibit free radical activity and repair the damage done by them. If you're over 30, you need to supplement the antioxidant content of your skin, in order to protect and improve your appearance.

Natural vitamin E, coenzyme Q10 and enzymes found in honey, avocado oil, grape seed oil and other natural substances can be used to supplement the antioxidants in your skin's cells. But, there is an enzymatic-antioxidant that has only recently become available in skin care for woman or man. I would suggest that you learn more about it and try to find products that contain it.

2 Five Tips to Help You Find the Best Eye Wrinkle Creamhttp://thesecretsofbeautifulskin.com

Finding the best eye wrinkle cream can be tough, because of all of the products that you have to choose from. Here are a few tips that should help you compare products and find something that will really work, without the risk of irritation.

Free of Artificial Preservatives and Added Fragrances

This is a good choice for all skincare creams, but is particularly important for anything to be used around the eyes. The skin under the eyes is thinner and more delicate. There is very little fatty subcutaneous tissue in the area. So, it is much more easily irritated.

Free of Hydroxy Acids

Hydroxy acids may be okay for younger faces, but for the removal of wrinkles, they are not. They cause burning, redness and itching. The immediate swelling may make it seem as though they are working, but they will eventually do more harm than good.

Look for EYELISS

The best eye wrinkle cream will contain EYELISS, an expensive European ingredient that has been used by Hollywood stars and celebrities to reduce bags and dark circles. The ingredients in the compound are antioxidants and protein peptides that stimulate the production of new cells, increasing thickness and reducing wrinkles.

Look for HALOXYL

This works in synergy with EYELISS to further reduce wrinkles. The ingredients in HALOXYL are similar to those in EYELISS, but it also contains a special citrus bioflavonoid that promotes blood vessel strength and improves circulation; quite effective against bags.

Plant-based Oils; No Petrolatum, Mineral Oil or Paraffin

Petroleum based oils are not compatible with human skin. They look and feel greasy. Plant-based oils are quickly and readily absorbed. Palm oil, for example, is very good. Babassu wax, made from Babassu palm oil, protects the area under and around the eyes from moisture loss.

The best eye wrinkle cream contains the good ingredients mentioned in this article and it also contains Manuka Honey, because it contains special enzymes that promote healing. Think of wrinkles as scars. With the right healing tools, we can fade them away.
